Early Morning Gardens - Just before a Texas Thunderstorm!
This morning I went on another walk about the gardens and I noticed more plants are starting their Spring growth. I grabbed my camera and started snapping pictures right and left, the lighting was perfect and I was happy!
Then I noticed the wind picking up...I looked to the west...yep a storm was on its way. Within 15 minutes the wind was blowing, it thundered, rain started, next came pea to penny sized hail, then more rain...about 45 minutes later...we had bright sunny skies!
Go figure...there's an old Texas saying, "If you don't like the weather stick around a few minutes and it'll change." Well, it certainly did this morning!
The collage is from this morning...prior to the storm.
Row 1- left to right: succulent plant, yarrow, wood violets
Row 2- left to right: thrift/irises/mossy rock, daffodils, day lilies & strawberry plants
Row 3- left to right: black-eyed-Susan's,Shasta daisy, thrift
We'll watch these plants throughout their growing cycle as some will astound you with their beauty!

I love yarrow, and the Shasta daisy, which I have as well. One year I had yellow yarrow looked to much like goldenrod so I bought a gorgeous red yarrow.I love that.
ReplyDeleteThe weather sounds a bit like here its been known to ruin picnics and outdoor events doing that LOL.Enjoy the day Sandy!~~Becky
Sandy,
ReplyDeleteI love your spring mosaic! In our garden the lambs ear is coming out, I even see a tiny sprig of hydrangea! you are so right about Texas weather. We have such extremes here. Hail the size of baseballs, rain that will flood a place, heat like the blazes, Ohh I hate the Texas heat! I'm going over to see what Rose has done with your art. She's a very talented & funny lady. Have a great day. Lisa
