Dandelion Wishes
As a child, my favorite flower was a Dandelion, probably because they were everywhere!
Dandelion seed pods were an opportunity to make a wish that might come true! Ever so carefully I plucked it from the plant, the stem held between my fingers, a wish was made and then I would blow the puff ball of spores. I would watch as hundreds of spores flew in every direction as if they were dancing with the wind.
Now, when I see a Dandelion seed pod I remember the beautiful simplicity of my childhood. Hot summer days watching cloud formations, running barefoot in the cool grass and playing in the water sprinkler. Evenings were spent playing hide and seek, star gazing and best of all catching fireflies!
Lovin' those Dandelion wishes!

Oh girl, I love dandelions, I have some old book pages of them & was going to do a collage around them. My kiddo's love to pick them & blow. They tell me that it's like Horton Hears a Who. Love your butterfly bush too. My garden is really coming to life, even without my help. LOL Lisa
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh because they're the bane of people who like a perfect lawn! LOL! But they are SO BEAUTIFUL when you see a field totally covered in both the flower and the seeds! Like a covering of mist when they're seeding!

Such beautiful memories, Diane! I have similar thoughts when I see those fluffy white dandelion pods on my lawn...I usually leave them for the kids to blow on...but maybe if I see one today, it will be my turn!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely, dandelion-blowing, wish-fulfilling weekend!
Hi Sandy! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. I can totally picture you as a little girl blowing those seeds into the air. It's a lovely picture and I'm sure an even better memory. Thanks so much for you visit, and for taking the time to leave me a sweet note. Your comments always make me smile!
